Syrian Network for Human Rights| Casualty Report Friday, 16 March, 2012 : The Syrian Network for Human Rights has documented 45 victims in different regions in Syria, most of them from Arraqah. Among them two were tortured to death, seven were children, one was a new-born killed along with her mother, and two were defected soldiers. Tally of the casualties by province: Arraqqah: 14| Homs: 9| Dar’aa: 6| Hama: 7| Damascus Suburbs: 5| Idlib: 3| Dier Ezzour: 1 (lists of 16 March 2012 martyrs )|

Local Coordination Committees of Syria:

Raqqa: Regime's army stormed the house of the martyr Mohammed Qahtan, behind the Great Mosque, trying to kidnap his body, and have stabbed one of those who were in the house when he refused to extradite him. The army threatened the martyr's family that they will destroy their home.

Damascus: Jobar: The regime's army launched a raid and detention campaign in the neighborhood amid shooting and security deployment on the main road.

Idlib: The regime's army occupied the Faculty of Law building, all the surrounding buildings of the Sideeq Mosque and the Traffic Police Station. They have also put barricades and installed machine guns on buildings' rooftops.

Damascus: Tadhamun: Security reinforcements and heavy weapons enter the neighborhood, and people are afraid of a security crackdown that may be conducted by the regime.

Idlib: Regime's army forces occupied the buildings adjacent to the Siddiq Mosque and new building of the traffic police and law school at the beginning of the Industry area and set up barricades and machine guns on the roofs of buildings.

Homs: Rastan: Suleiman Saad Eddin was martyred after he was wounded in an artillery shelling on the city.

Damascus Suburbs: Obada: An evening demonstration set out in the town as a reaction to its storming using tanks yesterday, demanding the regime's ouster and denouncing Kofi Annan's standpoint.

Banyas: A demonstration just started in the village of Bayda chanting for Raqqa and the disaster-stricken cities and demanding the regime's ouster and support for the Free Syrian Army.

Damascus Suburbs: Obada: Evening demonstration started in the village in solidarity with the disaster-stricken cities and demanding the regime's ouster.

Banyas: A night demonstration started in the village of Basateen Islam chanting for the disaster-stricken cities and demanding the regime's ouster.

Lattakia: Haffeh: young man Houssam Ibrahim Abdulwahab was martyred today from the wounds he collected after being brutally beaten by security forces and armed thugs (Shabiha) yesterday.

Damascus: Jobar: Security forces conduct a campaign of arrests in the neighborhood near Teiba Mosque and heavy security deployment in the main road and in the side streets.

Damascus: Jobar: A demonstration set out of the neighborhood after Asr Prayer chanted for Raqqa and the disaster-stricken cities and demanded regime's ouster.

Daraa: Tayba: Defected recruit Muhajer Ghazi Aba Zeed was martyred by security forces' gunfire after the town was raided.

Raqqa: Mohammad Kahtan Alsayed Ahmad was martyred today after being shot by security forces in the city.

Aleppo: Kafar Noran: A massive demonstration started after Jumaa prayer in spite of the security presence; protesters chanted for the disaster-stricken cities and called for toppling the regime.

Hasakeh: Salhiyeh: Almost 50,000 demonstrators participated in the funeral procession of the martyr Idris Rasho. Demonstrators chanted for freedom and for the martyr.

Raqa: Storming of the city with tanks amid heavy shooting and army deployment in the city, and reports of a massacre while dispersing the demonstration; the number is stil unknown.

Deir Ezzor: Shaheel: A massive demonstration in the main square; protesters are chanting for supporting the Free Syrian Army and calling for toppling the regime.

Raqqa: Reports about 6 martyrs and more than 15 got wounded by security forces and Shabiha's bullets including 4 children.

Damascus Suburbs: Jdedat Artooz: Security forces and thugs (shabeha) are raiding the Fadl neighborhood and looking for the corpses of martyrs.

Raqqa: Many demonstrators got martyred and wounded when security forces opened fire at the massive demonstration that emerged in the city today.

Damascus: Qadam Neighborhood: A massive demonstration started from the Sayeda Aisha Mosque; protesters chanted for Homs and the disaster-stricken cities. Security forces attcked the protesters and openned gunfire at them.

Hama: Two children were martyred in the neighbourhood of al-Arba'en after opening fire on demonstrators.

Daraa: Tafas: Recruit Ahmad Ali Al-Bardan was martyred while he was trying to defect and his corpse was burned by security members.

Lattakia: Nahiyet Salma: a demonstration started in the Karat village in solidarity with the besieged cities, despite the mlitary campaign in the village that's conducted by the regime's army and armed thugs (Shabiha).

Damascus: Kafarsouseh: an invasion campaign in the Lawan neighbourhood after surrounding it completely.

Lattakia: Kasab: A demonstration started from Rabi'ah village in solidarity with disaster-stricken cities and FSA, and demanding the regime's ouster.

Idlib: Maaret Al-Noman: Many wounded after heavy random fire was opened on civilians after coming back from the demonstrations. Snipers were deployed on high buildings rooftops.

Lattakia: Demonstrations set out in the neighborhood of Gunies, Horieh Mosque in Saliba, al-Jod Mosque in the Citadel, al-Mohajreen Mosque in Raml al-Janobi and the Bazaar Mosque in the market of Traders. All of them chanted for freedom and the disaster-stricken cities and demanded regime's ouster and the protection of civilians.

Lattakia: Many demonstration started from the Doha mosque in the Ashrafiyeh neighbourhood, the Yaseen mosque in the Masrou Qalaa neighbourhood, and from the Zarzour mosque in the southern Korniche. Participants chanted for freedom and the besieged cities, and security forces and thugs clashed with them violently.

Raqqa: many wounded after security forces opened fire on a sit-in next to the Clock tower.

Latakia: many demonstrations started from the Omar Bin Khattab mosque and the Beiraqdar mosque. Participants chanted for freedom and the besieged cities, they also called for protecting civilians despite the heavy security presence.

Ma'aret No'man: A massive demonstration started from all mosques in the city in solidarity with the disaster-stricken cities and to demand regime's ouster.

Idlib: Taftanaz: big demonstrations started from most city mosques, participants chanted for the disaster-stricken cities and demanded protecting the civilians

Lattakia: Haffe: A demonstration started in Freedom Square near Aljame' Aljanoubi; protesters chanted for freedom and disaster-stricken cities.

Idlib: Jabal al-Zawiya: The regime's army stormed Balyoun village and are randomly detaining civilians and burning-down several houses.

Damascus: Hajar Aswad: the regime's forces are conducting a random detention campaign in the neighbourhood which included many people, among them are children. There is also some sporadic shooting to terrorize the people.

Banyas: Many demonstrations set out of the city and security forces conduct a campaign of raids and arrests especially in the neighborhoods of Midan and Qeibat.

Hama: Selmieh: Tanks have entered the city; four tanks entered to Shememish area, three tanks entered Mantar area along with the regime's security and military vehicles. The regime's forces have erected tents and barricades.

Daraa: Daraa Mouhatteh: Widespread security presence amid gunfire in the town. Snipers are stationed on rooftops while al-Sad Road was stormed by the regime's tanks and heavy machinery. Homes have been targeted with mortar shells where martyrs and wounded have been reported. Reports indicate a detention campaign and a security raid on al-Hussen Mosque where praying civilians were detained.

Damascus Suburbs: Qalamoun: A massive demonstration started after Friday prayer from Alfostuqa mosque in Ma'arba village.

Damascus Suburbs: Kanaker: a big demonstration started in the town, participants chanted for the disaster-stricken cities and demanded the regime's ouster.

Daraa: Massive demonstrations started in the following areas: Daraa Balad, Hary al-Qussor, Sabeel, Sanmain, Inkhal, Daal, Sahem Golan, Jassem, Naeemeh, Basser al-Harir, Free Kurk al-Sharqy, Gharaya, Namer, and Nemr Ghasem.

Damascus Suburbs: Jdaidet Artouz: Security and shabiha are shooting the mourners at Alfadl neighborhood.

Daraa: Sahm Al-Golan: the regime's forces are invading the town and shooting heavily which resulted with many wounded.

Damascus Suburbs: Bowayda: A demonstration started by the Occupied Golan Heights region in solidarity with the disaster-stricken citites. Participants demanded civilian protection.

Damascus: Kafarsouseh: A big demonstration started from the Nazeer mosque and another from the Khouzaima Bin Thabet mosque, in solidarity with the disaster-stricken cities.

Homs: Talkalakh: Violent shelling at Qal'et Alhesen using mortar shells and tanks after a demonstration started in the town. There are reports of having a martyr.

Daraa: Izraa: A massive demonstration set out after Friday prayers; participants chanted for the besieged cities and demanded to topple the regime.

Damascus: Qadam: Many wounded after demonstrators in front of the Sayideh Aisha mosque were shot.

Daraa: Sahem Golan: Security forces are firing intensely to disperse a demonstration that started in the town.

Lattakia: Jebeleh: Several demonstrations started from Alfaid, Alkholafa Alrashedeen, and Abu Baker Alsedeeq mosques; protesters are chanting for freedom, and security forces and shabiha are addressing them.

Damascus: Hajar Aswad: Intense and indiscriminate gunfire aiming at the homes on Thawra (Revolution) Street.

Damascus: Jouret Shribaty: A demonstration started in solidarity with the besieged cities; participants demanded the world to protect civilians from the Regime.

Damascus: Midan: A massive demonstration started from Khair Yaseen Moswue in Qubak area in solidarity with the besieged cities; participants are chanting for the world to protect civilians.

Homs: A mortar shell has fallen in al-Ghouta neighborhood followed by heavy gunfire aimed at a demonstration in the area. A widespread presence of the regime's tanks are seen on the main road.

Hama Suburbs: A demonstration started in Qastoon in Sahl Al-Ghab in spite of the extensive military presence and the widespread of checkpoints.

Damascus Suburbs: Darya: Violent clashes between the Free Syrian Army and the Regime's army in response to raiding the city. It is important to note that the regime’s Air force Intelligence are using helicopters mounted with machineguns to attack civilians.

Damascus Suburbs: Kafr Batna: Security forces and Shabiha launched many barriers and closed the entrances of the town. They surrounded all of the mosques and this is associated with the spread of the snipers on the roofs of buildings.

Daraa: A massive demonstration started from the displaced people of Golan camp; The security is trying to raid the neighborhood to disperse the demonstration while the FSA is trying to adress them.

A demonstration set out from Sahhen Mosque near al-Janouby neighborhood; participants chanted for Hama's suburbs and demanded the regime's ouster. It was dispersed before the Shabiha arrived.

Deir Ezzor: Intense shooting in each of: Nahr street, the Soyoof roundabout and in the vicinity of the Ghassan Abbod roundabout.

Deir Ezzor: Detention campaign in Hamedieh neighborhood, and raid and detention campaign in Aljoura neighborhood.

Daraa: Yadodeh: Bidding farewell to a martyr in a massive demonstration; mourners chanted for the martyr and freedom.

Hasake: Massive demonstrations in each of Derbaseieh, Amouda, Raas Al-Ain, Qahtanieh, Malkieh, and Jowadieh demanding the regime's ouster.

Daraa: Massive demonstrations set out in the city of Daraa and in the town of Nosaib as well as in Tafas in solidarity with the disaster-stricken cities.

Daraa: Jasem: Security forces opened fire to disperse many demonstrations set out the city demanding regime's ouster.

Hama: An explosion occurred in Jonoub Malaab neighborhood near Salaheddin Mosque, injuring some members of the security forces that were randomly shooting at civilians, injuring many.

Hasakeh: Thousands of mourners gathered at the home of the martyr Idris Rasho preparing his funeral.

Homs: Hawla: The regime's forces is shooting at Keferlaha demonstration, which led to clashes with regime's army.

Homs: Indiscriminate bombing of the Rabea al-Arabi neighborhood by tanks located on the outskirts of the neighborhood and several got injured.
