Resistance rockets blast US al-Warrar base near ar-Ramadi.
In a
dispatch posted at 5:27pm Makkah time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat
al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces had carried out their
third rocket attack in the ar-Ramadi area within the previous 24 hours.
The
ar-Ramadi correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source
in the Iraqi Resistance as saying that the Resistance fired four
Katyusha rockets at the American al-Warrar base on the Euphrates River
west of ar-Ramadi. The rockets blasted into fuel storage tanks used for
US occupation vehicles. The source said that the attack was successful,
destroying nine big fuel tanks.
Dense clouds of smoke covered the sky over the base and the surrounding
areas after the attack. US helicopters and fighter planes prowled the
skies over head.
Hit.
Resistance bombards joint US-Iraqi puppet headquarters in Hit.
In a
dispatch posted at 12:37pm Makkah time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat
al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces fired six 100mm
mortar rounds into the headquarters jointly occupied by US and Iraqi
puppet troops that the Americans set up in the former Youth Center in
downtown Hit, about 170km west of Baghdad
The
correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses in Hit
as saying that all the mortar shells blasted into the headquarters.
Pillars of smoke were seen rising from the facility.

Fourth highest-ranking Shi'i cleric in Iraq abducted in Baghdad.
In a
dispatch posted at 8:20pm Makkah time Sunday evening, Mafkarat
al-Islam reported that a short while earlier, unknown armed men
abducted the Shi'i religious leader Ayatallah Sayyid Husayn al-Husayni
from his office in Baghdad.
The
correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source in the
Iraqi puppet police who asked not to be identified as saying that
unknown armed men abducted Ayatallah al-'Uzma as-Sayyid Husayn
al-Husayni. The source said that the Shi'i cleric had arrived in
Baghdad to visit his followers in that city. No information on where
the cleric had been taken or what became of him was available.
The
correspondent reported that Shayk al-Husayni is regarded as the fourth
highest Shi'i cleric in the Shi'i clerical hierarchy in occupied Iraq.
US
forces launch mass raids, arrests in western Baghdad.
In a
dispatch posted at 2:35pm Makkah time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat
al-Islam reported that beginning on Sunday morning, US occupation
troops launched a campaign of searches and arrests of several buildings
in Baghdad.
The
Baghdad correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US
forces blockaded al-'Amiriyah, al-Ghazaliyah, and the al-Jihad
neighborhood, preventing anyone entering or leaving those areas of
western Baghdad beginning at 3am local time Sunday morning.
Eyewitnesses reported that the Americans used loudspeakers to announce
that a curfew was in force in those areas, threatening to arrest anyone
who violates it. The Americans demanded that residents leave their
doors open so that the US forces could raid more easily. The raids and
arrests were still underway at the time the correspondent filed his
report.
Resistance bomb blasts puppet police in Baghdad’s al-Karadah district.
In a
dispatch posted at 12:55pm Makkah time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat
al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by an Iraqi
puppet police patrol in the al-Karadah district of eastern Baghdad at
10:30am local time Sunday morning.
The
correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses in
al-Karadah as saying that a bomb planted in their area exploded on the
main road in the al-Misbah area. The blast disabled a Toyota
Landcruiser ("Monica") severely wounding three puppet policemen.
Resistance bomb blasts puppet "Iraqi National Guards" in western
Baghdad.

dispatch posted at 10:55am Makkah time Sunday morning, Mafkarat
al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a puppet
"Iraqi National Guard" patrol on the main road in western Baghdad’s
al-'Amiriyah district at dawn Sunday.
The
correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses in
al-'Amiriyah as saying that the bomb, which had been planted on the road
to Abu Ghurayb, went off by a puppet "National Guard" patrol, destroying
a Humvee and killing three and wounding two more of them.

soldier reported killed in bombing in Hur Rajab to the south of Baghdad.
In a
dispatch posted at 10:45am Makkah time Sunday morning, Mafkarat
al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US
patrol in the Hur Rajab area of southern Baghdad on Saturday evening.
The
correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as
saying that the bomb, which was planted on the road between Hur Rajab
and the south Baghdad suburb of ad-Durah disabled an American Humvee,
killing one US soldier and wounding two more of them.

Al-Miqdadiyah.
Resistance bomb targets US patrol in al-Miqdadiyah.
In a
dispatch posted at 11:25am Makkah time Sunday morning, Mafkarat
al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US
patrol on the main road in al-Miqdadiyah, about 85km northeast of
Baghdad.
The
correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a bomb that had
been planted by the side of the road in the middle of the city went of
by a patrol of several American Humvees and personnel carriers. The
blast disabled a Humvee, but no details on the nature or extent of
casualties were known, because American troops quickly sealed off the
area.
Resistance bombards US troops near al-Miqdadiyah.
In a
dispatch posted at 10:30am Makkah time Sunday morning, Mafkarat
al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces unleashed a mortar
barrage on concentrations of US occupation troops and Iraqi puppet
forces at the entrance to al-Miqdadiyah.
The
Diyala Province correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported
eyewitnesses in al-Miqdadiyah as saying that the Resistance blasted the
concentrations of US troops and puppet "Iraqi National Guards" near one
of their camps on the outskirts of al-Miqdadiyah. Plumes of smoke could
be seen rising from the area, but as usual the Americans released no
information on the nature or extent of their casualties.

soldier reported killed by Iraqi sharpshooter in al-Yusufiyah.
In a
dispatch posted at 12:19pm Makkah time midday Sunday, Mafkarat
al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance marksman shot and killed
a US soldier in theal-Bu 'Abdallah area of al-Yusufiyah, about 30km
southwest of Baghdad.
The
correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses in the
village as saying that a US foot patrol was proceeding down a farm road
in the village when one of the Americans took a direct hit from an Iraqi
Resistance sharpshooter’s bullet, killing him instantly.
After the attack US forces surrounded the village and launched raids
looking for the sharpshooter but found nothing.
Al-Latifiyah.
Resistance bomb wounds US troops north of al-Latifiyah.
In a
dispatch posted at 10:32am Makkah time Sunday morning, Mafkarat
al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US
military column on the highway north of al-Latifiyah, about 30km south
of Baghdad.
The
correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses in the
city as saying that the bomb, which was planted about 10km north of
al-Latifiyah, went off as a US column was driving past. The explosion
disabled a US armored vehicle, killing and woundeing its crew of four US
soldiers.

Puppet governor of al-Mawsil survives second assassination attempt in
less than a month.
In a
dispatch posted at 11:55am Makkah time Sunday morning, Mafkarat
al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance fighters ambushed the
motorcade of the puppet governor of the northern city of al-Mawsil,
Durayd Kashmulah. Kashmunah emerged apparently unscathed, but the chief
of his bodyguards was wounded as was one of the guards.
The
correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses in the
al-Islah az-Zira'i neighborhood of eastern al-Mawsil as saying that
Resistance fighters attacked the motorcade near the al-Islah az-Zira'i
fuel station but that Kashmunah escaped injury. Two bodyguards,
including the commander of the force, Muhammad al-Wakka', were wounded.
Mafkarat al-Islam noted that Kashmunah was
the target of another attempted assassination as recently as 20 July
when a high-explosive bomb went off by the Sennaharib Bridge in the
al-Faysaliyah district on the left (northeast) bank of the Tigris River
in the city. That blast destroyed the car in the motorcade immediately
in front of the vehicle in which Kashmunah was riding. Three of his
bodyguards were killed in that attack.
Later, in a dispatch posted at 2:20pm Makkah time Sunday afternoon,
Mafkarat al-Islam reported that sources in the Iraqi puppet police
had related that during the attack on his motorcade Sunday, Kashmulah
crawled away to hide behind oil drums, avoiding the attackers.
The
correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported the source as saying
that two Resistance fighters unleashed intense bursts of medium machine
gun fire at Kashmulah, as he got out of the car during an inspection
trip at the fuel station in the al-Islah az-Zira'i neighborhood of
al-Mawsil. The source said that in addition to the commander of the
bodyguards, who was seriously injured, two members of that force were
wounded, not only one.
The
puppet governor’s office admitted the attack and claimed that Kashmulah
fought back with his pistol but the puppet police sources and the
eyewitnesses who were in their cars in line for fuel at the fuel station
confirmed seeing the puppet governor crawling on his belly among the
fuel drums after the attack occurred.

US
troops murder their Iraqi pimp in an-Najaf.
In a
dispatch posted at 5:35pm Makkah time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat
al-Islam reported that an Iraqi translator working with the US
occupation forces disclosed on Sunday morning that US troops had killed
a pimp who worked for the American troops in the southern city of
an-Najaf for no known reason.
The
an-Najaf correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported the
translator as saying that the Americans killed the man called Sayyid
Husayn who was a member of the pro-American Shi'i sectarian Badr
Brigades and for two years had served the Americans as a procurer of
prostitutes, bringwoemn from the south of Iraq to the American bases in
return for money paid him in advance.
The
translator reported that the he still did not know why the Americans
killed the pimp, but said that the US military had opened an
investigation into the incident, and believed it likely that the
American troops were drunk at the time of the murder.
