Iraq Lost 5500 scientists since the Anglo-American Invasion
Translated from Arabic by Eman A. Khamas
Dr. Ali Abdul Razaq Al Naas, lecturer in the media college of Mustansiriya University in Baghdad, gunned down by unknown assailants in the Iraqi capital on 27 January 2006 after he called for an end to the occupation during a TV panel show.
March 21, 2008
Dr. Noor Al-Deen Al-Rubei'i, general secretary of the Scientific Research Councils, head of the Research Academy, and the well-known Iraqi scientist in the field of nuclear technology, said that the American invasion of Iraq aimed at destroying Iraq's future by assassinating and liquidating its scientists, burning its scientific volumes in the research centers, which constituted of the substance of scientific researches of 10 billion dollars.
Dr. Rubei'i added that 80% of the assassinations targeted those who worked in the universities, half of them hold the title of professor or assistant professor. He said that half of these assassinations were in Baghdad university, then Basra, Mosul, al-Mustansiriya, and that 62% of them hold a PhD, and that one third of them are specialized in sciences and medicine.
Dr. Rubei'i added that the Iraqi scientific and technical advancement was at the head the reasons of invading Iraq by the U.S. and its partners, and with the Zionist stimulation and direction. Madeline Albright 's statement , the secretary of state during the war, was clear enough. She literally said What can we do with Iraq other than destroying the Iraqi mind ,which the nuclear bombs can not destroy "destroying the Iraqi mind is more important than the bombing"
Hence, when the American and British armies invaded Iraq, the first thing they did was the scientific and research institutions, schools, and universities, and burning the libraries and the Iraqi heritage, which was exposed to looting and plunder.
This is proved by the fact that Iraq lost 5500 of its scientists, since the Anglo-American invasion in April 2003,the majority of them immigrated to Europe, eastern Asia, and Arab countries. The rest were assassinated. The Iraqi scientists learned the lesson. After the kidnapping of Dr. Ali Mhawish, the dean of the College of engineering in Al-Mustansiriya University, and the finding of his body. They realized that they live in an atmosphere that they never experienced since the fall of Baghdad by the Moguls, in 1258…There are other academics who received letters containing bullets. Five professors in the medical college asked for a long leaves out side Iraq because of such letters.
Dr. Rubei'i also added: the threat of James Baker of returning Iraq to the pre-industrial age, which means the middle ages …what was meant by this threat is to destroy and demolish all ways of resistance and opposition, as Holaco did in his savage invasion, when the water of the Tigris became red because of the dead bodies thrown in the river, and black because of the books which the invaders threw in it.
The truth is that the invaders realized very well the hugeness and the significance of the Iraqi scientific and technical project in all its details, a completely integrated scientific and technological system that would guarantee the national independence of the country, and make it a strong factor that can not be bypassed. That is why, few days after the occupation, Dr. Mohammad al-Rawi, the head of the medical doctors syndicate in Iraq, and the president of Baghdad university was assassinated. The assassinations followed after that, openly and in day light, of 1500 highly qualified Iraqis, like dr. Muhi Husein, professor of aerodynamics, and aviation engineering in the University of Technology, dr. Muhannad Al-Duleimi , professor in the same U. , Dr Ghalib Al-Hiti, professor of Chemical engineering in the same U., let alone the destruction of thousands of factories, laboratories, and research centers.
Israel was part of this dirty operation. Its intelligence created a secret army of 150 member, which has a list of 800 Iraqi scientists to be liquidated or immigrated to Israel. During the last years of the occupation Israel received many of those who betrayed Iraq, and accepted the Zionist embrace. One of them is Kanan Mekiya, who was given an emeritus doctorate, others like Tahir Labib, and Mahmud Abu Salih, were given masters.
It became evident that the ill-famed UN inspectors teams, which ravaged Iraq before the Anglo-American invasion, themselves were who gave Israel lists of the names of the Iraqi scientists.
Dr. Rubei'i also said: Assassinating the Iraqi scientists is part of the "creative chaos" strategy, which the occupation used since the invasion, in order to subdue the Iraqis and subjugate them. Highly organized chaos portrays the insolent invaders as if they are naïve and powerless, or stupid helpless in front of the seizure of the palaces of the Iraqi State, the governmental institutions, the banks, the universities, the factories, the engineering and military centers, the museums, the libraries, and the treasures of its heritage. It is "sustained chaos", like the haphazard graphic drawings on the computer. It is self-nourished by wasting the huge financial resources of the Iraqi state, unprecedented corruption, collective bribes of false projects, like the election and the federal government. Well-knit chaos like the physical phenomena, its main goal is to create riot, and destroy the national unity, the entity of the State. While at the same time, they build the biggest American embassy in Baghdad, and establish 14 military base in all parts of Iraq.
Dr. Rubei'i added that the first statistical study of the massacre against the Iraqi scientists, medical doctors, and engineers, prepared by an English doctor of Iraqi origin, Dr Ismael Al-Jalili, and presented in the first international conference on the assassination of the Iraq academics, held in the Spanish capital Madrid, the study showed that Doctor Mhawish was the forth dean to be assassinated in Al-Mustansiriya University. Before him there was the deans of the medical, the education, and the law colleges, in addition to the assistants of the deans in the Sciences and the Economics and Administration colleges. Of the departments heads three were assassinated: the German language, the education, and the Arabic World Studies departments. These academic elite belongs to different religions and sectarian groups in Iraq, not to any specific one, which confirms that the criminals are not Iraqis.
