November 14, 2013 - Mutahidoun Bloc MP Wihda al-Jumaili called Iraqi senior religious circles to "immediately stop the arrests in Baghdad", charging the government "not to act on this question". In a statement, she added that government forces are indulging with arbitrary arrests since of Muharam month that led panic among Iraqi families.Jumaili is a member of the bloc headed by Parliament Speaker Usama Nujaifi, which comprised MPs from Baghdad, Ninewa, Anbar, Diala, Salahal-din and Kirkuk. She pointed out that the arrests are concentrating on "a certain big component", in reference to the Sunni sect. BAGHDAD/ Aswat al-Iraq: Mutahidoun Bloc MP Wihda al-Jumaili called Iraqi senior religious circles to "immediately stop the arrests in Baghdad", charging the government "not to act on this question".

In a statement, she added that government forces are indulging with arbitrary arrests since of Muharam month that led panic among Iraqi families.

Jumaili is a member of the bloc headed by Parliament Speaker Usama Nujaifi, which comprised MPs from Baghdad, Ninewa, Anbar, Diala, Salahal-din and Kirkuk.

She pointed out that the arrests are concentrating on "a certain big component", in reference to the Sunni sect.

"These arrests are politically-oriented to prevent the people of these areas from participating in the coming elections", she added.

For the last three months, military operations were underway around the belt of the capital, following the storm-in of two main prisons last August and the release of more than 1000 Qaeda members, including 500 convicted to death penalty.
