LIKE A BRACELET AROUND AN ARM

Coming soon: the newer Iraq

Friday/Saturday, May 27-28, 2005

The illustration with this article was drawn in 1993 and depicted an Iraq that was cut off from the outside world by the devastating embargo placed on it. Today, I am re-publishing the same drawing, but for a different reason. The new walls will be self-imposed.

The stooge Iraqi government announced that next week 40,000 Iraqi troops will be deployed in Baghdad to hunt down resistance fighters and their weapons. According to Reuters News of May 26, 2005, quisling Iraqi Defense Minister, Sadoun al-Dulaimi, stated:

We will divide Baghdad into seven main areas, and the number of the forces who will take part in the operation from the interior and the defense ministry will be more than 40,0000 security men.

We will also impose a concrete blockade around Baghdad, like a bracelet around an arm, God willing, and God be with us in our crackdown on the terrorists’ infrastructure. No one will be able to penetrate this blockade.

You will witness unprecedentedly strict security measures.

Who would have ever thought it would have come to this? Iraqis fighting Iraqis. Concrete walls that will make the Berlin wall appear to be a picket fence in comparison. Collaborators spewing the party line of the oppressors.

All this fits right into the plans of the U.S. Iraqis are fighting Iraqis and the U.S. can say that its presence must remain until the savages calm down. Mainstream America believes this. Talk to almost anyone on the street and you get a reply similar to: "We can’t leave now. What would happen to Iraq if we did?"

What would happen is that Iraq would be taking its first step back to the independence it lost on April 9, 2003. No more, no less.

When I receive statements like this, I ask, "Why are you concerned about Iraqis now? During the embargo you didn’t utter a word of opposition."

Baghdad has been destroyed. The once-proud city that held a 5,000-year glorious history is no more. Now, the Iraqi stooges want to erect concrete walls all over the city.

The new walls will not keep differing political ideologies from each other. They will break down even more the ability for Iraqi families and friends to visit. Most Baghdad residents have only the camaraderie of acquaintances to look forward to in life. They have lost their jobs and much of their possessions. The new walls will keep the residents of Baghdad from the only enjoyment they have in their lives.

The bravado that the stooges use is despicable. It is straight out of the pages of a U.S. strategy guide. Not once did al-Dulaimi even mention the residents of Baghdad. He only spoke the words that will ingratiate himself to the occupiers.

Baghdad is the first round of the new walls. Eventually, in the words of al-Dulaimi, the entire country will be walled in.

Al-Dulaimi concluded his press conference with an even more ominous statement: "These operations will aim at turning the government’s role from defensive to offensive."

Just imagine Saddam Hussein saying those words a few years ago. The U.S. would have gone wild and stated that he was a brutal oppressor. However, when a U.S. stooge utters them, he is an astute security-minded patriot.

Pardon me while I regurgitate.
