Al-Qa’im.
Powerful nine-hour US assault employing aerial bombardment,
artillery, rockets, and tanks, on al-Qa’im fails to break through Iraqi
Resistance defenses on Tuesday. US losses said heavy. Resistance
prepares for likely US chemical weapons attack.
In a dispatch posted at 5:05pm Mecca time Tuesday afternoon,
Mafkart al-Islam reported from al-Qa’im that US and Iraqi puppet army
forces from 6am Tuesday morning until 3pm Tuesday afternoon had made a
stubborn attempt to storm into five neighborhoods of the city under the
complete control of the Iraqi Resistance.
The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent in the city reported that the
American attackers used fighter planes, heavy artillery, and guided
missiles in an indiscriminate attack on those neighborhoods, but in the
end failed to break in.
Eight military vehicles were destroyed in the first US assault on
the Resistance-controlled areas that the attackers mounted on
al-Kamaliyat Street.
The correspondent was unable to ascertain the extent of US losses
in the second and third waves of the American assault, but could say
that their losses in those attempts were greater than they had been in
the first. He noted that within a period of 25 minutes more than 50
rockets and artillery and tank shells blasted into the Resistance
positions but the Americans were still unable to break through the
Resistance lines.
Resistance forces in the city expect the American attackers to make
use of poisoned gas or other chemical agents as is their habit after
more conventional explosives fail to secure their aims. The Resistance
has prepared itself for the American use of chemical weapons.
In a dispatch posted at 8:20pm Mecca time Tuesday night, Mafkart
al-Islam reported from al-Qa’im that four powerful explosions had
shaken the northern areas of the city, which are under US occupation
troops’ control, a short while earlier.
The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent in al-Qa’im reported members of
the Resistance as saying that the blasts were part of the ambushes that
Resistance fighters had prepared before they pulled out of those areas
in the face of the advancing Americans. Bombs as well as booby-trapped
shops and houses are among the techniques used by the Resistance.
At the time of writing, thick clouds of smoke were rising over
three positions in the north of al-Qa’im, but no further details were
available.
US agents infiltrate Syrian territory to blow up Syrian
cellular telephone communication tower in bid to cut off al-Qa’im from
outside world.
In a dispatch posted at 8:25pm Mecca time Tuesday night, Mafkart
al-Islam reported from al-Qa’im that US forces had destroyed a Syrian
cellular telephone signal tower on the Syrian-Iraqi border in an
attempt to cut communications between Iraq and Syria.
The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent in al-Qa’im reported Syrian
Bedouin tribes in the border areas around al-Bu Kamal as saying that US
forces used their "lackeys" to blow up the communications tower.
The correspondent reported that the Syrian cell telephone service,
which had been widely and actively used by residents of al-Qa’im, was
cut off about an hour before he filed his report when unknown
individuals infiltrated into Syrian territory and blew up the telephone
communications tower.
The report was confirmed by a number of Iraqis who now live near the border having fled from the savage US bombing of al-Qa’im.
Five US troops reported killed in truck bombing Tuesday morning.
An Iraqi Resistance car bomb exploded by a US military column in
the middle of al-Qa’im on the border with Syria at 9:30am local time
Tuesday morning.
The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent in al-Qa’im, currently in the
fourth day of a savage US attack, reported that a vehicle belonging to
the al-Qa’im Municipality that was used to pave streets had been packed
with explosives and parked near the Municipality garage. The vehicle
exploded as a US patrol was passing by.
The blast destroyed one US troop transport vehicle, killing five US
soldiers who were aboard it. Minutes after the blast, Iraqi Resistance
forces fired mortars into the scene of the bomb attack, having waited
for US vehicles to gather in the area. There was no word on the nature
or extent of US casualties from that barrage.
Quds Press: US offensive continues as Americans ban all independent journalists from working in al-Qa’im.
Quds Press reported Tuesday that the American offensive on the
border city of al-Qa’im and the nearby Iraqi towns of Husaybah,
al-Baghuz, al-Karabilah, ar-Rummanah, and Sa'dah continued on Tuesday
amidst silence in the major international news media, as the US forces
have imposed a ban on all independent journalists working in the area –
apart from a few working for US media.
US troops are accompanied by "embedded" reporters from the US-installed Iraqi regime’s al-'Iraqiyah propaganda TV station.
The correspondent for Quds Press has been outside the city
prevented from getting in by the US attacking forces. He could only
cover events in al-Qa’im via telephone calls to residents in the city.
The correspondent reported, however, that US aircraft and artillery
have been continuously bombing and bombarding the city since dawn on
Saturday without letup.
Jamal Ibrahim ar-Rawi, a witness inside the city told Quds Press
that the Resistance has continued to beat off US assaults on the city,
fighting even more vigorously now that most of the civilian residents
have fled. Ar-Rawi told Quds Press that the Resistance had thrown back
repeated US assaults ant hat the Americans had still been unable to
penetrate into the center of the city.
Ar-Rawi said that Resistance fighters were deployed in strength and
bombs have been planted by the sides of roads around the city,
preventing the Americans from advancing with ease. US aircraft bomb or
rocket anything that moves in the city, as well as private houses, if
US forces so much as think it possible that Resistance fighters might
be inside.
Meanwhile, Muhammad al-'Aksari , official in the Iraqi puppet
government, meanwhile, said the American obombings and attacks would
continue until the so-called "elections" planned by the occupation
authorities for 15 December, Quds Press reported from occupied Baghdad.
At least 14 American troops seen dead in al-Qa’im fighting by Monday night.
In a dispatch posted at 4:55pm Mecca time Tuesday afternoon,
Mafkarat al-Islam apologized for the limited quantity of its reportage
from al-Qa’im on Monday, a day when US forces advanced into many parts
of the city. Mafkarat al-Islam explained that the American advance had
forced them to pull two of their three reporters out of the area of the
US advance for their protection. The third correspondent was unable to
use his satellite telephone because of the danger (their signals are
frequently tracked and targeted by US aircraft).
The following is the last report that was dispatched from al-Qa’im on Monday night.
At 6pm Monday night US forces concentrated in the al-Qaws area at
the approach to the eastern entrance to the city mounted a powerful
attack on the eastern and northern neighborhoods of al-Qa’im. Fighting
and bombardment of the American rear lines lasted for about an hour and
40 minutes, the correspondent reported, who obtained permission from
the Iraqi Resistance forces, due to the seriousness of the situation in
the city, to pursue his journalistic reporting and news coverage from
areas they control.
The correspondent wrote that 14 US troops were seen dead in the
course of the battle during the day, but that a number of other
American soldiers had been killed as well, but the fighters were unable
to get a clear count of them.
Thick black smoke could be seen rising over areas that the
Resistance mortars pounded and US helicopters flew in presumably to
pick up bodies or wounded.
The correspondent noted, that so far the number of Resistance
fighters who had been killed in the Battle of al-Qa’im could be counted
on the fingers of two hands, contrary to American claims to have killed
36 Resistance fighters.
