Why the Iraq War was worth it

... And the pictures above should show non-Iraqis what we had, the kind of lives we led, before we were liberated. So, after seeing these pictures ... you should know that I would NEVER change course. I would never back down from supporting the resistance. Never back down from calling for a free, independent, and sovereign Iraq. Never back away from calling the US occupation the most brutal in human history based on the sheer number of dead, destroyed infrastructure, etc. Never shy away from calling the US soldier a belligerent, racist, Nazi drone equipped with the mindset of the raping, ravaging cowboy and the firepower to blow children's heads clean off (Dirty Harry?). I cannot and will not give up on an Iraq where Shia, Sunni, Christian, Yazidi, Turkmen, Kurd, Sabaean live side by side, brother and sister. And I will always hold the position that Iran is the biggest threat in Iraq - coupled with its conniving legions in the Iraqi government and the Sadrist militia. So, on the occasion of Memorial Day in North America (belated, I know) I leave you to ponder from the pictures whether the Iraq War was truly worth it...

Why the Iraq War was worth it

Truth About Iraqis

worth11.jpg

May 28, 2007

There are times when one must admit his/her mistakes and face the horrible truth ... I have stood against the invasion and occupation of Iraq for the past four years.

I have defended the Iraqi resistance with vigor, I have called for a nationalistic Iraqi government that transcends sectarian and religious lines.

I have pushed for a true representation of the people.

I have basically said the Iraq War was not worth it and was a tragedy.

I have written about imperialism, zionism, persianism ... everything that I felt harmed the national interests of Iraq and Iraqis.

But, today I reverse course. I admit my mistakes in ever standing up and speaking against the war.

No, I have not been threatened and - as is common with other bloggers we know so well - I have not been bought for a fistful of dollars, a pat on the back and the feeling that the gringo has been appeased.

I simply changed my mind based on the facts. Based on what I see in Iraq today.

Based on what I have seen of the Baathists, the Saddamists, and the resistance.

So, it is with a heavy heart that I admit my mistakes in pictures.

Please continue to scroll to the bottom so that you may really understand what brought about this sudden change in me.

Please click on each image to enlarge and to embrace the full effect of my sudden metamorphosis.

And lastly, I fully support Madeline Albright's "It's worth it" speech so many, many moons ago.

In honor of her great humanity and her keen foresight into how Iraq should have been confronted, I dedicate the following picture to her.

The above pictures are snatched from a pps file that has been making the rounds in the email world.

This blog posting was inspired by my friend and brother Take 24 Steps to Liberty who recently wrote of the angst and despair at losing a beloved - cry, cry the beloved country.

So, on the occasion of Memorial Day in North America (belated, I know) I leave you to ponder from the pictures whether the Iraq War was truly worth it.

And to commemorate this happy occasion, I laud the Iraqi resistance for giving quite the salute to the US military. 10 knocked off on Monday, bringing to 115 this month.

Quite the achievement for deadenders.
