Saturday: 68 Iraqis Killed, 8 Wounded


At least 68 Iraqis were killed or found dead and eight more were wounded in the latest attacks. The toll includes a mass grave grave found in the capital. No Coalition casualties were reported. In Baghdad, a mass grave containing approximately 35 corpses, including those belonging to women and children, was found in the Doura district. Another six dumped bodies were recovered in other neighborhoods. No casualties were reported after a car bombing in the Shurta tunnel or after roadside bombs on Sadoun Street and at al-Jadiriyah Bridge. At least 68 Iraqis were killed or found dead and eight more were wounded in the latest attacks. The toll includes a mass grave grave found in the capital. No Coalition casualties were reported.

In Baghdad, a mass grave containing approximately 35 corpses, including those belonging to women and children, was found in the Doura district. Another six dumped bodies were recovered in other neighborhoods. No casualties were reported after a car bombing in the Shurta tunnel or after roadside bombs on Sadoun Street and at al-Jadiriyah Bridge. Two policemen were wounded during a roadside bombing at the Tayran Square.

In Baquba, a civilian was gunned down and a leader from the Iraqi National Dialogue front was abducted. Also, six dumped bodies were discovered.

Gunmen killed a policeman and a civilian during an attack in Amara.

Four Iraqi soldiers were injured during a roadside bombing near Hawija.

U.S. forces killed seven gunmen in central and northern Iraq.

A Sadrist leader succumbed to wounds received when he was arrested last month in Diwaniya.

In Diyala, gunmen injured two members of the 1920 Revolution Brigade.

Five people were gunned down in Mosul. Also, five dumped corpses were found.

A roadside bomb targeting an oil well caused no casualties south of Kirkuk. Also, a bomb exploded at the law college but caused no casualties; a second bomb was defused.

In Khanaqeen, a roadside bomb targeted a brigade commander's convoy but caused no casualties.

In Diyala, 50 detainees were released due to lack of evidence. British troops released five more. Meanwhile, Iraqi troops arrested 12 suspects in Diwaniya and captured 13 gunmen in Mosul. Three women were arrested, also in Diwaniya. During joint U.S.-Iraqi operations in Baquba another twelve suspects were detained and six more were arrested just north of the city.
