In the second such discovery within 48 hours, US occupation troops and Iraqi puppet soldiers discovered nine bodies of officers in the Iraqi puppet forces who were shot to death and their bodies dumped by the side of a road in the northern suburbs of the western Iraqi city of al-Hadithah.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam in the city reported a source in the puppet so-called "Iraqi national guard" as saying that nine bodies of officers in the puppet force were found on Friday shot to death. He said that they had gone missing two days earlier when on a foot patrol in the middle of al-Hadithah.

Resistance bombards US troops in Sukkaniya base early Friday.

Iraqi Resistance fighters in the Salafi Army of the Partisans of the Sunnah Prophet’s Practice attacked the US base at the far south end of Baghdad known as Sukkaniya at about 5am early Friday morning with seven surface-to-surface rockets. The attack blasted the western parts of the American base where US troops were concentrated.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported witnesses as saying that clouds of black smoke enveloped the area where the rockets struck in the western part of the base. Three US helicopters could be seen prowling around the area for nearly an hour afterwards.

Bomb near Shi'i mosque kills eight.

At least eight persons were killed and 20 more injured when a car bomb exploded outside a Shi'i mosque in Baghdad during Friday congregational prayers. The American Associated Press (AP) reported puppet police sources as saying that the blast targeted the as-Sabih Mosque. Sources in the puppet so-called "Iraqi interior ministry" said that the casualty toll was likely to rise. Witnesses reported seeing the attacker driving a white BMW car.

of Muslim 'Ulama’ reports: Brother of jailed Sunni religious leader murdered in campaign of anti-Sunni sectarian "cleansing" of Baghdad district.

The Board of Muslim 'Ulama’ Scholars in Iraq, the highest Sunni religious authority in the country, announced on Friday that "criminal hands close to some of the political parties in the interim 'government’ and the so-far unannounced 'government’-to-be" had murdered 'Abd al-Mu’min 'Abd al-Jabbar, the brother of Shaykh 'Abd as-Sattar 'Abd al-Jabbar, a member of the Consultative Council of the Board of Muslim 'Ulama’ in Iraq who has been imprisoned for more than six months."

The statement said that the latest assassination is part of a "mad campaign in some districts of Baghdad to carry out sectarian cleansing," one such area being the "Madinat ash-Sha'b" area, where the martyr 'Abd al-Mu’min was assassinated. That area has recently seen a serious increase in attacks on innocent residents. Today and yesterday a number of residents there were attacked and killed in addition to the murder of the martyr 'Abd al-Mu’min 'Abd al-Jabbar.

Other residents killed in the campaign of sectarian "cleansing" of the district are the Sunnis: Mustafa Husayn La'ibi, Diya’ 'Alwan az-Zaydi of the 'Abdallah ibn Maz'un place of worship, Saddah Ibrahim al-'Ukayli of the al-Khulafa’ ar-Rashidin place of worship, and 'Abd al-Latif al-Mashhadani of the Ibrahim al-Khalil place of worship.

US official spokesman admits Resistance attacks sharply up in last week.

US forces admitted on Friday that the pace of Resistance attacks on US forces in Iraqi provinces had substantially increased over the last week.

The admission came in a press conference held in the Palace of Congresses (Convention Center) in the so-called "green zone" headquarters of the US occupation in Baghdad. A correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam was among the reporters at the press conference.

The spokesman for the US military Steven Mack said that attacks had notably and greatly increased against the US military, but he claimed, "we have not lost control of the security situation in Iraq and our army is still holding together."

In response to a question from one of the foreign correspondents about the number or extent of attacks registered by the American military command in Iraq, the spokesman said, "I don’t know, but they are increasing."

Diyala Province.

Ba'qubah.

Resistance bomb kills nine US troops monitoring mosque sermon in Ba'qubah.

An Iraqi Resistance land mine exploded under a foot patrol of more than 20 US troops just after Friday congregational prayers in Ba'qubah on Friday. The blast killed nine American soldiers in full view of the local residents of the city.

Lieutenant Midhat Rif'at of the puppet so-called "anti-terrorism" force reflected the language and attitudes of his masters when he told the correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam in Ba'qubah that: "a land mine planted by 'terrorists’ targeted an American column on foot that was protecting the mosque from 'terrorist’ attacks." The puppet officer said that the explosion killed nine US troops and wounded others, adding that "the mine was a primitive bomb that was carefully prepared so that the 'terrorists’ could use it to kill the largest possible number of American troops."

Local eyewitnesses said however that the Americans were not "guarding the mosque" as the puppet officer claimed but were monitoring the sermon that the preacher was delivering to make sure that he did not "incite people to jihad." As is usual every Friday, US forces with their local puppets go to mosques throughout the country to listen to the sermons and then storm in the minute that they hear what they consider to be "incitement to jihad," arresting the preacher right off the pulpit.

After the attack, US forces encircled the area and quickly evacuated the bodies of their dead while preventing the worshippers, who were still in the mosque, from leaving the building until they were finished clearing the of the remains of their men.

Al-Mada’in.

Sunni residents of al-Mada’in demand to know what happened to their loved ones; fear the "50 bodies" Jalal at-Talibani said were found in as-Suwayrah were their relatives, kidnapped and killed by puppet police.

In an appeal to the Board of Muslim 'Ulama’ Scholars the highest Sunni religious authority in Iraq, residents of the city of al-Mada’in demanded to know the fate of their relatives who were abducted and presumably imprisoned by the puppet police and so-called "Iraqi national guard" in the course of the hoax regarding "Shi'i hostages" several days ago.

It was later learned that there never had been any sectarian kidnappings of Shi'ah nor any threats against them, but the puppet regime’s "security" forces did round up numerous local Sunnis whose whereabouts remain unknown.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that residents of the al-Wahdah area in al-Mada’in demanded to know the fate of those Sunnis who were abducted, jailed, or disappeared during this period.

The appeal also demanded that the families that were expelled from al-Wahdah and al-Mada’in be allowed to return to their homes and that their property – which was confiscated – be returned to them. The appeal demanded security, stability, and necessary protection for the Sunni residents of the area.

The residents in their appeal said that the number of people who are missing or were arrested is in the hundreds, and that the campaign of arrests is still under way.

In their appeal to the Board of Muslim 'Ulama’, the Sunni residents said: "We appeal to you to find out their fate and to demand that the government keep harm away from the people of this area, because if it does not, things will get much worse, especially after the declaration of Jalal at-Talibani that more than 50 bodies were discovered in the as-Suwayrah area – people we believe to be our relatives who were imprisoned in the city of al-Kut by the puppet police and the 'national guard’."

Two Resistance organizations claim credit for downing of Bulgarian helicopter Thursday.

The Iraqi Resistance organization the Islamic Army in Iraq published a video communiqué on the Internet in which it took responsibility for the shooting down of a US mercenary helicopter north of Baghdad on Thursday, killing 11 invaders. One of the dead was executed by the Resistance after he survived the crash, the videotape indicated.

The Islamic Army stated in its communiqué that one of the crewmen was taken prisoner alive but then killed. The Islamic Army broadcast a video showing the burning wreckage of the craft and numerous charred bodies. The communiqué said that "the Islamic Army had shot down a transport aircraft of the atheist army," according to Reuters.

Later on Friday, however, an organization calling itself the Army of the Mujahideen announced that it was responsible for shooting down the Bulgarian helicopter on Thursday, and provided a videotape that appeared to show the attack from start to finish, unlike the Islamic Army tape, all of which showed the helicopter after being shot down.

The Army of the Mujahideen videotape broadcast by al-Jazeera satellite TV on Friday showed their fighters launching rockets towards the helicopter that was hovering at low altitude. After that, the video shows the helicopter turned into a ball of flame before striking the earth and sending up clouds of black smoke.

The Bulgarian company that owned the helicopter reported that the craft carried a crew of three Bulgarians, six American mercenaries, and two guards of unnamed nationality. Some reports said that the guards were Fijian, others that they were Filipino.

The source said that another bomb exploded about 40 meters from the first but it did not inflict any damage on the US vehicles. The American military, for its part, admitted that the attack took place and claimed that three of its soldiers were killed. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam in the city reported witnesses as saying that nine mortar rounds blasted the base which the Americans set up in Kikuk International Airport.
