You know it's going bad for the right-wingers when they drag old Pat Boone out of retirement and let him loose on Cindy Sheehan ( http://worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=45958 ). "This lady and the groups that have been demonstrating in front of the president's ranch in Crawford and following him around are the very same people that were the dropout, turn-on, anti-war peace activists back [in the Vietnam War era]," said the ancient one. "They still have this crazy notion that by just being peaceful and maybe toking up or something like that -- it's like an ostrich with its head in the sand -- maybe the danger and the bad guys will go away and leave you alone, which is not gonna happen." In other words, Pat does not seem to have a firm grasp on reality -- anti-war demonstrators are not generally pot-smoking hippies, although right-winger Rush Limbaugh is a documented pill-popping drug addict -- and appears to be suffering from a touch of Alzheimer's. He should probably refrain from commenting in public lest he come off as an ill-informed nitwit, or at least WorldNetDaily should find somebody a bit more qualified and less mired in the distant past to criticize Sheehan.

Even so, Joseph Farah and his right-winger propaganda organ seem to believe Boone has something relevant to say about the situation, so let's take the "American Idol" at his word. "But, look," Boone continued, "when [terrorists] destroy the World Trade Center right in front of your eyes in Manhattan and you know they're going to do the same and worse things, to just sit back and say 'Oh, let's try not to make 'em mad at us, let's don't rock the boat, let's just say peace is the answer, we love you, we love you' ... we're just sitting ducks. More World Trade Centers, more 9-11s are gonna happen unless we try to take the battle to them on their turf instead of letting 'em bring it to us on ours."

For some reason right-wingers cannot accept the demonstrated fact Iraq had nothing to do with nine eleven and keep repeating the same tired and discredited line the invasion and occupation of Iraq is all about fighting terrorism. In fact, Bush and crew are fighting a well-organized and determined resistance movement that will not stop killing Americans until Bush pulls the troops out. In the meantime, Bush and crew (or more accurately the crew, since Bush is cardboard cut-out, more drug-addled from years of alcohol and cocaine abuse than Sheehan or her supporters will ever be and thus unable to make complex decisions) will continue to run pseudo-gang black ops in Iraq in an effort to portray the resistance as blood-thirsty Arab serial murderers. Moreover, taking "the battle to them on their turf" (translation: killing even more Iraqis than the 100,000 plus already slaughtered) will do nothing to prevent another nine eleven, even if we accept the official version of events, so riddled with inaccuracies and omissions as to resemble Swiss cheese.

But never mind. Boone spends the rest of the article talking about evangelical Christianity and how he believes creationism (now called "intelligent design" to beguile the ill-informed) should be taught in public schools. "The idea that all of this could have happened mindlessly with no blueprint is sheer stupidity and very unscientific," said Boone, completely misrepresenting the admittedly unproven theory of evolution, and thus demonstrating that if the philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche was right about anything it was that man (or men like Boone) have put themselves in the wrong order with the animals.
