Is western media complicit in the murder of Iraqis?

Truth About Iraqis

February 24, 2006

The headlines:

Reuters team of Alastair Macdonald and Lutfi Abu Oun - Curfew stalls Iraq bloodshed

Agence France Presse reporting from Washington - Sectarian violence not seen as tipping into civil war: Pentagon

MSNBC: Iraq curfew helps cap most violence

CNN: Curfew extended to stem revenge attacks

FOX: Curfew Continues

New York Post: Iraqi Religious Leaders Call for Peace

Canada's CBC shamefully says: Iraqi streets calm during curfew

In fact, Canadian websites have all but wiped out news of Iraq's disaster in favor of Olympic overage. Globe and Mail also reports on the Curfew.

The National Post, run by pro-Israel Asper's Can West, has no mention of the word "Iraq" anywhere on its homepage. Instead, their second headline after the Olympics is "Baby orangutan makes first appearance at Toronto Zoo".

Notice the difference with the Independent: Ten imams murdered in Iraq as sectarian killings intensify

But The Guardian chokes on its barrel of gunk: Curfew cuts violence as religious leaders call for calm - Iraq: Shia and Sunni leaders put on show of solidarity
Ě US claims national unity government will go ahead

Where is this utter bull coming from? Going ahead with what after al-Dhari directly accused government officials of being behind the attack on the Askariya mosque.

Are you Iraqis getting the picture yet? No one gives a damn. You want to see how much they give a damn? Go read some of the blogs of those who pretended they wanted democracy for us - see how they rejoice at the misery of Iraqis.

One would think nothing happened in Iraq. And for those who know better, the headlines are comforting.

"Phew," says Joe Idiot in Alabamba. "Iraqi religious leaders are calling for peace - I can go back to watching Survivor Exile Island".

What US media is not reporting, because their cowardly reporters are holed up in the Green Zone restaurants and bars, is that Badrists and Sadrists have NOT complied with the curfew and have not been forced to comply by Iraqi troops (what a laugh).

When Chris Matthews recently asked the poignant question of whether a Shia Iraqi army soldier would shoot a Shia militia member if he was about to kill a Sunni, Rend Rahim Francke (former US citizen, but Iraqi ambassador to the US) could not give an answer. She barely could say I hope so.

The only real sources of what has been happening in Iraq, in addition to some otherwise factual reporting from wire reporters on the ground, are the bloggers. From Riverbend to Baghdad Dweller to Baghdad Treasure to Zeyad, there is boisterous desperation that their lives are in danger.

Several mosques have been attacked. These attacks have not stopped but have persisted not in spite of the curfew but because of it.

Read what Zeyad has written.

Read what I wrote of pitch battles between the death squads and volunter groups (remnants of Jaysh Sha3bi, I would presume) fighting off, and delivering a hard blow to the terrorists.

Some have said "Where is the cavalry," an allusion to the good ol' western films where the brave soldier blue wipes out the injuns. Well, no soldier blue in this case, maybe soldier yeller. They have been confined to barracks.

Isn't that rich?

I have not yet received any new information on several families who sought refuge in a mosque in Baghdad. Zeyad says they have been threatened with being burned alive.

They have appealed for help.

No one but the Iraqis themselves will help. Not the cavalry, not lighting a candle in some god-forskane place. Nothing.

This is the world lil Georgie created for our children
