US-installed puppet regime immersed in corruption.

The puppet "General Inspector" in the puppet "Iraqi Ministry of Petroleum," 'Ali 'Allaq, has issued a report accusing the US-installed Iraqi puppet "government" of being "immersed" in corruption and theft, drawing money from smuggling Iraqi oil resources out of the country.

The London-based newspaper al-Hayat reported that the "General Inspector" in his report estimated that between US$400 million and US$800 million of oil are illegally smuggled out of Iraq’s southern ports annually.  'Allaq said that the black market in gasoline inside Iraq was worth about US$800 million more on an annual basis.  In addition, the report stated, the American-installed puppet government subsidizes the import of petroleum products from neighboring countries and a "considerable" amount of that is also stolen before it reaches the Iraqi consumer.

'Ali 'Allaq concluded that as a result of all this plundering and smuggling of the country’s oil resources, billions of US dollars’ worth of the country’s wealth have been siphoned off by the corrupt officials of the American backed regime in the last three years.

US troops continue to block the city’s entrances and exits as their house-to-house raids spread to all the neighborhoods of the city.

As of the time of reporting dozens of people were known to have been arrested in the ferocious campaign against the city.  In one raid, puppet troops stormed into a house in the as-Sikak neighborhood of Samarra’ and killed four unarmed civilians, all members of one family, including a six-year-old girl and her mother.  Two other family members were wounded in that raid for no known reason, the correspondent reported.

All forms of normal life have been shut down in Samarra’, the correspondent reported, plunging the population into a tragic situation, where many people have no food, fuel or water and no end to the curfew is in sight.

The Kirkuk correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported local eyewitnesses as saying that heavy mortar shells began blasting into the airport at about 12:30pm local time Saturday afternoon.  The barrage lasted about 10 minutes and sent flame and smoke rising from the northern part of the airport where the main gate is located.

American helicopters flew in and hovered over the base for about an hour following the attack.

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent in Irbil reported that Kurdish separatist security forces had significantly increased their security measures, such as closing off predominantly Kurdish areas to all Arabs coming from other parts of Iraq, as well as shutting down official departments in preparation for the "holiday."

The gradual partition of Iraq into separate ethnic and religious mini-states in order to facilitate American control has been a feature of US policy since it occupied Iraq in the spring of 2003.

Al-Qadisiyah Province.

The conservative Polish government and Polish President Lech Kaczyński agreed to keep Polish occupation troops in Iraq helping facilitate US control of the country until the end of 2006.  A number of opposition parties in the country oppose extending their stay past the end of 2006.

Al-Basrah Province.

Al-Basrah.

Iraqi Resistance shoots down British helicopter in al-Basrah, reportedly killing four British troops.

In a dispatch posted at 2:15pm Makkah time Saturday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance fighters shot down a British helicopter in the al-Jaza’ir section of the southern Iraqi city of al-Basrah.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the aircraft was hit as it hovered over the area at low altitude.  Witnesses said that after the helicopter was struck by gunfire, flames blazed up on the craft and in fell onto a house in a residential neighborhood in the as-Sa'i district of central al-Basrah.

The owner of the house told Mafkarat al-Islam that there were body parts of British soldiers strewn all over the roof of his home, which was itself damaged by the impact and then by the fire that followed.  Ammunition could be seen exploding inside the wrecked aircraft after it had crashed onto the house.

After the downing, other British helicopters flew in and hovered over the area as the roads to the scene were closed.

The correspondent reported that supporters of Shi'i religious leader Muqtada as-Sadr were seen "hysterical with delight" around the scene of the crash.

The American Associated Press (AP) quoted a puppet police captain as saying that four British troops were killed in the crash, but British officials, in keeping with the Anglo-American practice of concealing casualty figures, said only that there had been "casualties."

Fighting reportedly erupted between British troops trying to control exultant crowds and Jaysh al-Mahdi militiamen loyal to Muqtada as-Sadr.  The American AP reported that local residents set fire to two British armored vehicles and that the British troops fired into the air to disperse the local people and then exchanged gunfire with Jaysh al-Mahdi militiamen.  The puppet police source told the AP that at least four people, one of them an Iraqi child, were killed and 31 more were wounded. Two of the dead were adults whom the British shot to death as they drove their car past the area.
