Resistance shoots down US helicopter, captures one crewman whom they threaten to kill if US forces don’t pull back out of the city.
Iraqi Resistance forces shot down a US Cobra helicopter over the city of Hit at 7am Thursday morning. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Resistance fighters fired a Strela rocket at the helicopter as it surveyed and secured ground areas in which US columns were to advance.
Witnesses told the correspondent that the helicopter was shot down in the al-Hamam neighborhood in the middle of town and that crashed, scattering fragments over a large area.
Resistance fighters issued a communiqué that was posted in mosques saying that the crew of the helicopter consisted of two men. One of them was killed, the other captured. The Resistance threatened to kill the American prisoner within 24 hours if US forces did not pull back to the edges of the city, which the Resistance described as a "steadfast stronghold."

Resistance bomb targets US column in al-Fallujah.
In a dispatch posted at 5:46pm Mecca time Thursday evening, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US military column in the ash-Shuhada’ neighborhood, the most southerly part of al-Fallujah from which the Iraqi Resistance withdrew on 23 January 2005.
The correspondent reported witnesses, who live in the neighborhood and just recently came home, as saying that the bomb was planted under a pile of garbage and that it exploded next to a US foot patrol killing seven American troops and wounding another five. The correspondent reported that American forces completely sealed off the area to the attack and searched nearby houses, but without finding any evidence to suggest that the residents were involved in the operation.
Resistance fighters kill 20 puppet "national guards" at command post south of al-Fallujah.
Twenty members of the puppet so-called "Iraqi national guard" were killed when Iraqi Resistance forces attacked a puppet force command post south of the city of al-Fallujah, Mafkarat al-Islam reported.
Several detachments of Iraqi Resistance forces hid themselves in nine trucks loaded with onions. When the nine trucks came to a halt before the command post that was located at the al-Budhaybidh Bridge south of 'Amiriyat al-Fallujah, the Resistance fighters burst out of the trucks and attacked the puppet troops. All 20 puppet guards who were manning the command post were killed in the attack.
Resistance forces bombard US troops around 'Amiriyat al-Fallujah all day Thursday.
Iraqi Resistance forces fired rocket barrages at US forces surrounding 'Amiriyat al-Fallujah, which is to the south of al-Fallujah city, all day Thursday, Mafkarat al-Islam reported. The Resistance fired more than 50 rockets and shells into the American positions. In addition, the Resistance struck the US al-Habbaniyah base with a rocket believed to be a Grad or a Tariq, which produced a massive explosion that was heard a great distance away.
US troops raid mosque in 'Amiriyat al-Fallujah.
US forces raided a mosque in the town of 'Amiriyat al-Fallujah, south of the city of al-Fallujah, on Thursday and demanded that the Imam order the refugees from al-Fallujah who are still in 'Amiriyat al-Fallujah to go back to their homes in the city.
The correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam reported that refugees from al-Fallujah have been staying in 'Amiriyat al-Fallujah since the US aggression on their city began in November. They have refused to return home out of fear for their lives and those of their children since US attacks are recurrent.
US raids homes in as-Saqlawiyah area.
US forces carried out a wave of raids, searches, and arrests in the as-Saqlawiyah area northwest of al-Fallujah on Thursday, Mafkarat al-Islam reported.

Resistance car bomb blasts US checkpoint in ar-Ramadi Wednesday night.
An Iraqi Resistance car bomb exploded at a US checkpoint west of ar-Ramadi, 110km west of Baghdad at the old intersection of provincial roads at about 7pm Wednesday night.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a Red Supra car blasted into the US checkpoint as personnel there were checking civilian cars.
Witnesses said that the car raced at high speed towards the checkpoint and that soldiers yelled warnings at the vehicle, which failed to stop until it was among the American troops where it blew up. A colonel in the puppet "national guard" told Mafkarat al-Islam that the blast killed 14 US troops and wounded seven more in addition to martyring the driver of the car.

Iraqi Resistance bomb targets large US armored vehicle near Abu Ghurayb.
An Iraqi Resistance roadside bomb exploded on the Abu Ghurayb - Zawbi' road, nearly completely destroying a huge American armored vehicle and leaving fire blazing inside. A local puppet police captain told the correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam in Abu Ghurayb that the blast killed four US troops and wounded four more - all of whom were aboard the vehicle. The correspondent said that the explosion took place at 10:15am Thursday, and also killed one Iraqi civilian who was in his car near the scene of the blast at the time and was taken to hospital afterwards but was pronounced dead.
Iraqi Resistance car bomb leaves 13 US troops dead in al-Iskandariyah Thursday morning.
An Iraqi Resistance car bomb exploded by a US military column in al-Iskandariyah, south of Baghdad at 9:15am Thursday morning. The local correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the deputy commander of the puppet police in al-Iskandariyah gave a press briefing to a number of reporters who gathered at the scene of the attack, saying that the blast was the result of a car bomb that destroyed two Humvees and disabled an armored vehicle. At least 13 US troops were killed as were three Iraqi puppet police personnel who were accompanying the American column.
US ransacks mosque, arrests worshippers north of Baghdad at midday, Thursday.
US military forces raided into a mosque in the city of al-'Atifiyah, north of Baghdad, arresting the Imam and Preacher and the caretaker of the place of worship. The Americans also rounded up and arrested a number of worshippers who happened to be there to offer the noon prayer. The correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam reported witnesses as saying that the US soldiers stormed into the mosque and beat worshippers as they were in the middle of the noon prayer.
The Americans hit the imam and led him, together with the worshippers, away to an unknown location. Other US troops searched the mosque and its adjacent buildings, breaking doors and smashing window glass in an unprecedented effort to wreck the place, witnesses said.
Resistance bombards US base in ad-Durah Thursday morning.
Iraqi Resistance forces bombarded the US base known as Sukkaniya in the southern Baghdad suburb of ad-Durah at 7am Thursday. Witnesses said that seven 120mm mortar rounds blasted into the American facility, sending up thick clouds of smoke. Secondary explosions shook the area inside the base as American munitions began going off. US helicopters came in, as usual after the attack to evacuate casualties.

Resistance attacks US column in Shahraban at midday Thursday.
Iraqi Resistance forces attacked a US military column in the town of Shahraban east of Ba'qubah at 1pm Thursday, Mafkarat al-Islam reported. The correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam in the area said that local eyewitnesses who saw the attack said that more than 15 Iraqi Resistance fighters attacked the column of US vehicles as it was stopped in the middle of the city. The Resistance fighters were armed with medium weight weapons and rocket launchers. The attack destroyed two Humvees and killed seven American soldiers. Four more American troops were wounded.
The witnesses said that the Resistance force withdrew from the scene after American troops responded with unusual ferocity at the source of the incoming fire. Fortunately, the fighters were able to get away without suffering any dead or wounded in their own ranks.
The correspondent sought an official announcement confirming the attack and met with a member of the local puppet police force who said, "this was the first time that the Americans acted with some bravery and responded in this manner to the source of the gunfire directed at them. In every other attack on them they either fled quickly or simply tried to dodge the incoming fire, while calling in helicopters to decide the issue."
The puppet police official confirmed that two Humvees were destroyed, seven US troops were killed and four more wounded.
Iraqi Resistance bomb hits US column in al-Mundhiriyah Thursday night, killing four Americans.
An Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded in the path of a US military column in the city of al-Mundhiriyah in Diyala Province east of Ba'qubah near the Iranian border. The local correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam reported witnesses as saying that the blast destroyed a Humvee and killed four American troops. The correspondent wrote that the bomb was planted in the middle of a dirt road to the north of al-Mundhiriyah and was detonated as the Americans went over it. In a dispatch posted at 10:25pm Mecca time Thursday night, the correspondent reported that US troops were at the time of writing encircling the area where the attack occurred.

Resistance martyrdom fighter blows up car bomb by puppet police station in Tikrit, killing 15 puppet personnel.
Sources in the puppet police and hospitals reported that an Iraqi Resistance car bomb exploded near a puppet police station in Tikrit, 175km north of Baghdad, killing at least 15 and wounding 22 persons. Puppet police Major Husam al-Musifi was quoted by Reuters as saying that a man dressed in a puppet police uniform tried to drive his car into the police compound and then blew himself and his car up when that way was blocked.
Shortly after the blast 'Imad al-Jabburi, an official in Tikrit Hospital confirmed the numbers of 10 dead and 25 wounded, but cautioned that those numbers might increase.
Al-Musifi said that the number of dead was large because the blast occurred at the time when the police changed shifts, so a large number of the puppet personnel were gathered inside the compound at the time. Puppet authorities had to put out fires in at least 20 cars after the huge blast.

Resistance attack targets puppet police official in Kirkuk.
The commander of the emergency puppet police in Kirkuk was the target of a bomb attack that took place near his home at 8:30am Thursday. Colonel Khattab 'Umar 'Arif told Agence France Presse (AFP) said that the bomb exploded in the road he was driving on when he left his home, killing two of his guards and wounding two more. Two puppet police cars were damaged in the blast which occurred about 100 meters from the puppet official’s home. The director of Kirkuk Hospital said that the bombing killed two persons and wounded four more - all of them puppet policemen.
Irbil.
Resistance kills seven Peshmergah gunmen in attack Thursday afternoon.
Iraqi Resistance forces attacked a patrol of Kurdish chauvinist collaborationist Peshmergah gunmen in Irbil, northern Iraq on Thursday, the local Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent reported. Two members of the Resistance fired two rockets at two vehicles belonging to the Peshmergah, destroying two German-built Jeeps and killing seven Peshmergah chauvinist gunmen and wounding three more.
The correspondent reported that the attack, which took place at 3pm Thursday, was carried out by a Resistance group that did not disclose its identity, but had threatened several days previous to strike the Kurdish Peshmergah, killing them anywhere if they did not stop raiding the houses of Sunni Arabs there, charging them with being "terrorists." The city of Irbil in northern Iraq has long been home to 25,000 Sunni Arab Iraqis.

Resistance bomb kills British soldier in al-Basrah Thursday morning.
An Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a British military column in the southern Iraqi city of al-Basrah at 8:15am Thursday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported. Witnesses told the correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam in the city that the bomb was planted by the side of a branch road in the center of the city. The blast disabled a Jeep and left one British soldier dead and three more wounded. The correspondent witnessed British columns advancing towards the scene of the attack and encircling it to block access by all persons including reporters.
