Only few days ago the US Ministry of Defense had downward corrected the published number of US soldiers wounded in the Iraq without comment around 638 . A similar error occurred in a message of the "American Forces presses service", which was published on Thursday on the Website of the US Ministry of Defense. Only few days ago the US Ministry of Defense had downward corrected the
published number of US soldiers wounded in the Iraq without comment
around 638 . A similar error occurred in a message of the "American
Forces presses service", which was published on Thursday on the Website
of the US Ministry of Defense.
In, the original version of the message archived by GlobalSecurity it,
bombs meant "over half of all in the Iraq killing would have killed -
more than 8,100 soldiers - according to statistics of the pentagon."
Only one day later, on Friday, also this message was changed again without
comment. The sentence evenly specified was changed clearly. Now
it means there, bombs would have killed and wounded "more as half of
all in the Iraq killing more than 8,100 soldiers, according to
statistics of the pentagons." The change becomes clear by the
announcement of both versions in a screenshot of Google News:

The hyphens thus through "and wounded" replaced -
a small change with a serious change of the statement. Surely it could
have actually acted with the first version of the article around a bare
error by omission. On the other hand if the original version of the
article would correspond to the truth, then this would mean that
over 16.000 US soldiers in the Iraq were killed so far, while the official
data speak at present of 2.045.
This difference of approximately 14,000 killed US soldiers - the
eightfold of the official data - seems hardly
convincing at first sight, on the other hand one there were clear
references already in September of 2003 on the fact that the number of
the killed soldiers
was already at that time with 5.000. Beyond that also the number of the
US soldiers killed in the Viet Nam war was tuned by the US military
substantial .
