Independent, investigating media: facing bomb and virus epidemics

jouna, iraq-war.ru

November 26, 2005

The corporate media is sinking deeper and deeper into it’s chemical lies and false reporting on the origins of terrorism.

To mention few examples, the BBC News is gaining reputation for it’s "changing" titles, to a such degree that it’s already known as "the BBC Nows" (for an excellent coverage of the reporting of the BBC, cf. http://www.thecatsdream.com/blog/).

Even more famous is the New York Times (also referred as the "New York Slimes") for it’s former employee Judy Miller, but one should not discredit their coverage of the Fallujah: Hidden massacre either (for this and the BBC nows involvement in Fallujah, cf. http://www.iraqwar.mirror-world.ru/article/69499).

If hesitating, have a look on the article 'Woodward's definition of "journalism"? Reporting Bush administration falsehoods as "their point of view"’ in http://www.iraqwar.mirror-world.ru/article/71125. Or the item 'The Jordan river of lies (added)’, in http://www.iraqwar.mirror-world.ru/article/70096).

To be short, the answer to the question posed by the article 'Was US press in "coma" during drive to war with Iraq?’ http://www.iraqwar.mirror-world.ru/article/71016 seems to be negative: no it was not. It was all for it.

It’s already becoming obvious that the mentioned agencies (and others alike) are certainly not news agencies, and the issue seems to be shifted to should they be defined rather 'intelligence’ or 'propaganda’ agencies – or both?

Meanwhile the independent, investigating media is facing steadily growing and widening attacks.

All of us are well aware of al-Jazeera under bombings and conspiracies, so of this I quote only some headlines (with links to the articles):
1. 'Bush plotted to bomb al-Jazeera: Daily Mirror’, http://www.iraqwar.mirror-world.ru/article/70959.
2. 'Al-Jazeera seeks answers over 'bombing' memo’, http://www.iraqwar.mirror-world.ru/article/71107.
3. Press Freedom or Freedom to Bomb the Press? http://www.iraqwar.mirror-world.ru/article/71299.
4. Al-Jazeera seeks 'US bomb' talks in UK, http://www.iraqwar.mirror-world.ru/article/71360.
5. 'Legal gag on Bush-Blair war row (updated)’, http://
www.iraqwar.mirror-world.ru/article/71048
.

On the other hand, the attitudes of the journalists siding with the targets here are neatly expressed by Boris Johnson: 'I'll go to jail to print the truth about Bush and al-Jazeera’, http://www.iraqwar.mirror-world.ru/article/71149. Whatever the issue, the attitude is strikingly similar all around the world.

The latest phase of the attacks has now been announced by two important independent internet sites, uruknet.info (with the mirroring uruknet.com), with strikingly similar 'difficulties’ at the same time.

The uruknet.info warned yesterday:

"Someone reported that there are e-mails apparently coming from uruknet.info that contain a Virus. We verified that they don't come from us. We do not write e-mails to anyone if not explicitly requested (opt-in)."

Today, a resembling announcement is given by www.whatreallyhappened.com:

VIRUS ALERT
"Whether by design, or simply because this is a popular website and our address is on a lot of computers, the current flood of worms and viruses being flooded onto the internet is resulting in bogus emails containing viruses appearing to come from this website. As a reminder, whatreallyhappened.com does not do mass mailings of any kind. We do not keep a mailing list. If you receive an email from this site with an attachment, DO NOT OPEN THE ATTACHMENT and discard the email immediately."

The intention of these attackers is to seed suspicions between the sites and their users, and – if possible – to cut the communication between them, an attempt not unfamiliar to the site iraq-war.ru either (cf. e.g. the discussion under the article http://www.iraqwar.mirror-world.ru/article/70982).

According to an article by John Pilger 'A News Revolution Has Begun’ http://www.iraqwar.mirror-world.ru/article/71310. What comes to this, let’s face it: It’s time to wipe the dusts from the slogan originating to the French revolution: "You don’t make the revolutions with the rose water"

Although it’s uncertain, what will actually happen, the final outcome of the media war is already settled. This is due to the internal, necessary properties of the independent, investigating media: the independency and the investigation together can lead only to one conclusion:

We must know.

We will know.
