In response to recent Iraq’s loan $685Million from IMF (International Monetary Fund),
Iraqi government raised fuel price about three-fold than the normal
price which caused deadly clashes between Iraqis and the police, which
is also caused the resign of the Oil Minister Bahr al-Ulom, listen to

Raising fuel prices and cutting subsidies is part of the deal between Iraq’s Jaffri’s government and IMF.
the price increase is part of a larger debt-forgiveness
deal with the IMF, which demands that Iraq cut its fuel subsidies
before agreeing to a $685 million loan.

"Poor people don’t have cars," Ahmed Chalabi told the
Council on Foreign Relations. "Every time somebody fills their car with
gas in Iraq, the government gives them a present of $30."
Jalabi promised Iraqis a month ago, if they wil elect him as PM,
he will consider that all Iraqis must get a percentage of Iraq’s oil
wealth.

And for sure such a deal blessed by Bush government.
The Iraqi government is committing a big mistake by depending on
foreign money, IMF is one of many Bush’s extended "octopus tentacles",
it’s function is to milk the whole country empty and set the Iraqi
public under the poverty level.
Reminder, WWII and the fast economical recovery of Germany and
Japan, although the myth persist that the Marshal plan and foreign
money was the cause of this recovery but the true reason is the
economic policy adopted by Germany (W. Germany) and Japan at that time
( cutting taxes, eliminating price control and stabilize currency).
Iraq’s economy can recover much better without the IMF or the World Bank.
